New Indonesian visa regulations were introduced in 2004, effective 1st February 2004There are currently three different visas available for tourists visiting Indonesia: 1. Free Visa on ArrivalUpon arrival in 2. Purchased Visa on ArrivalUpon arrival in Bali and presentation of a passport with at least 6 months validity, citizens from the following countries can purchase either a 3 or 30 day non-extendable stay permit; Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America. The approximate charge for a 3 day visa is US$10 and 30 day visa is US$25. 3. Pre-arranged VisaCitizens from countries not mentioned above must apply for a visa prior to arriving in Indonesia. Anyone wishing to stay longer than 30 days must apply for a visa overseas at an Indonesian embassy or consulate before travelling. Those who overstay their 30-day visas by a few days (less than a week) are charged US$20 per extra day by immigration at the port of their departure. This does not apply if flights are delayed or experience technical difficulties. Your passport must be valid for six months from the date of entry into Tourist visas cannot be extended or converted into another type of visa. You must leave the country and come back in again.
